CWDI Moves Offices
Press Release / January 23, 2023

Cambridge Waterfront Development, Inc. (CWDI) has moved its day-to-day operations to the offices of the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) building at 306 High Street in Cambridge. “We are very excited to have a full-time downtown office,” says Matt Leonard, CWDI’s Executive Director. “That was one of the needs identified through CWDI’s recent Strategic Planning session.”

CWDI’s mission has accelerated through 2022, and its operations are evolving to keep pace. CWDI determined that they needed to be more accessible to the community and faster and more agile in their operations. In order to meet these needs, CWDI will use the full and expanding resources that the Chamber offers.

In business since 1921, the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce is the community’s oldest, largest, and most effective business advocate. Its Mission is: To Advance Dorchester County through educating, promoting, and nurturing a strong, resilient business community. The Chamber is currently recruiting an additional staff member to better serve its members.

“A key part of our strategy is to provide as much business support as possible for growth in the community, and supporting members like CWDI helps us do that,” says Bill Christopher, the Chambers President & CEO. “We are excited to have CWDI using our facility as they continue their important work on the waterfront.”

CWDI is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit development corporation formed through a joint Agreement of the City of Cambridge, Maryland; Dorchester County, Maryland; and the State of Maryland. CWDI’s Mission is: To develop Cambridge Harbor in partnership with the community, to the benefit of the community, and to sustainably operate and maintain Cambridge Harbor as an inviting, accessible, active, and enjoyable place to live, work, play and visit.

“I’ve had contact with a number of Chambers of Commerce throughout my career,” says Leonard. “Dorchester Chamber is one of the most well-run, responsive, and effective that I have seen. They will be a great help to our mission.”
